Terry Grabowski to be appointed Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms

Terry Grabowski will be appointed to the position of Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms of the Yukon Legislative Assembly as of February 1, 2020. Mr. Grabowski succeeds Harris Cox as Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms.

Mr. Grabowski was raised both in Dawson City and Whitehorse. He joined the Canadian Forces, the Royal Canadian Regiment in 1998. In 1999 he was deployed overseas to the Socialist Federal Republic of Kosovo on Operation Kinetic. While in the Canadian Forces he attained the rank of Master Corporal. Mr. Grabowski continues to serve as a Canadian Forces Ranger, instructor with the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, and is an active volunteer with the Whitehorse Royal Canadian Legion.

In 2003 Mr. Grabowski completed a diploma in Police and Security Studies at the Medicine Hat College and in 2005 received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Athabasca University. Mr. Grabowski joined the Medicine Hat Police Service until he returned to Whitehorse in 2010. Upon returning to Whitehorse Mr. Grabowski worked in several executive positions within the Yukon government.

The role of the Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms is to provide non-partisan services for the Yukon Legislative Assembly and its elected members by performing traditional and ceremonial functions. Through custom and precedent, the Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms performs a number of protocol and ceremonial duties.
