Hon. Sandy Silver
The Hon. Sandy Silver was first elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the general election for the 33rd Legislative Assembly on October 11, 2011. He was re-elected in the general election for the 34th Legislative Assembly on November 7, 2016.
The Hon. Mr. Silver’s appointment as Premier took effect on December 3, 2016. In addition to being Premier, the Hon. Mr. Silver is the minister responsible for the Executive Council Office (which includes aboriginal relations and intergovernmental relations) and the Department of Finance.
The Hon. Mr. Silver is currently a member of the Members' Services Board. The Hon. Mr. Silver was appointed to the committee by order of the House on January 12, 2017.
The Hon. Mr. Silver has been leader of the Yukon Liberal Party since February 2014. He was Leader of the Third Party in the Legislative Assembly from August 17, 2012 to the end of the 33rd Legislative Assembly.
During the 33rd Legislative Assembly the Hon. Mr. Silver served on the Members’ Services Board, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, the Standing Committee on Appointments to Major Government Board and Committees, the Standing Committee on Rules, Elections and Privileges, and the Standing Committee on Statutory Instruments. He also served on the Select Committee on Whistle-blower Protection and the Select Committee Regarding the Risks and Benefits of Hydraulic Fracturing.
