The Hon. John Streicker was first elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in the general election for the 34th Legislative Assembly on November 7, 2016. He was re-elected in the general election for the 35th Legislative Assembly on April 12, 2021.

The Hon. John Streicker was first appointed to the Executive Council of Yukon (Cabinet) on December 3, 2016. He is currently Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Minister responsible for the Yukon Development Corporation and the Yukon Energy Corporation, and Minister responsible for the French Language Services Directorate. From May 3, 2021 to January 14, 2023, he was Minister of the Public Service Commission. During the 34th Legislative Assembly he served as Minister of Community Services, Minister responsible for the French Language Services Directorate, and Minister responsible for the Yukon Liquor Corporation and the Yukon Lottery Commission.

The Hon. John Streicker has been Government House Leader since November 8, 2021.

The Hon. John Streicker was appointed a member of the Standing Committee on Rules, Elections and Privileges by Order of the House on May 17, 2021. He was also a member of the Special Committee on Electoral Reform, to which he was appointed by Order of the House on May 26, 2021, and the Special Committee on the Yukon Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform, which was established by the House on April 25, 2023. During the 34th Legislative Assembly the Hon. John Streicker was a member of the Standing Committee on Appointments to Major Government Boards and Committees and the Special Committee on Civil Emergency Legislation.
