The Yukon Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts will be holding public hearings next week.
Yukon Public Accounts
The first hearing will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. The hearing will address the Yukon Public Accounts 2023-24. Karen Hogan, the Auditor General of Canada, and officials from the Department of Finance will be appearing as witnesses at the hearing.
The Public Accounts were released on October 24, 2024, and are available at https://yukon.ca/en/public-accounts. The Public Accounts include the government’s financial statements and provide information on government spending. With its examination of the public accounts, the all-party Standing Committee on Public Accounts is fulfilling its primary purpose of ensuring accountability for public spending.
Procurement and Contracting
The second hearing will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. The hearing will focus on a performance audit on government procurement and contracting conducted by the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. The audit report was presented to the Legislative Assembly on November 26, 2024 and is available online at

At the hearing, the Auditor General of Canada and officials from the Department of Highways and Public Works will answer questions from committee members.
The public hearings will be held in the Yukon Legislative Assembly Chamber and will be broadcast live on 93.5 FM. The audio will also be streamed live (and archived) on the Legislative Assembly’s website (https://yukonassembly.ca/house-business/coverage-proceedings).
