The Yukon Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts will be holding a public hearing on Friday, November 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.
The hearing will address the Yukon Public Accounts for the 2022-23 fiscal year, which have not yet been released by the Government of Yukon. Officials from the Department of Finance and the Office of the Auditor General of Canada will be appearing as witnesses. With this hearing, the all-party Standing Committee on Public Accounts is fulfilling its primary purpose of ensuring accountability for public spending.
The Public Accounts include the government’s financial statements. They are required to be published and tabled in the Legislative Assembly by October 31 each year.
The public hearing will be held in the Yukon Legislative Assembly Chamber and will be broadcast live on 93.5 FM. The audio will also be streamed live (and archived) on the Legislative Assembly’s website (https://yukonassembly.ca/house-business/coverage-proceedings). Following the hearing, transcripts will be available on the Public Accounts Committee’s webpage (https://yukonassembly.ca/committees/pac).
