As part of an ongoing commitment to foster a respectful workplace, the Members’ Services Board of the Yukon Legislative Assembly has created a respectful workplace policy.

“Everyone should work in an environment that is respectful and the Yukon Legislative Assembly is committed to ensuring Members of the Yukon Legislative Assembly foster a harassment free workplace” said Speaker Nils Clarke, Chair of the Members’ Services Board.

The policy contains guidance for Members as well clear definitions of what constitutes disrespectful conduct and the remedies and procedures available for redress.

“The Yukon Human Rights Commission commends the leadership demonstrated by the Legislative Assembly of Yukon in its commitment to implement this new policy about conduct in the workplace. Workplace policies are an important tool to address harassment” says Jessica Lott Thompson, Director of the Yukon Human Rights Commission.

The Policy applies to all Members of the Legislative Assembly when conducting their duties as Members. The policy has been distributed to all MLAs and is available online.
